Bullying

Is raising its ungly head again.  There is another boy who is calling my son a stalker.  When I picked up son yesterday the principal said he would talk to the two boys together.

I don't think thtat is the way to take care of it - you don't put the bullied in the same room with the bully and tell the bully to stop.

So guess what?  Son would not go to school today.  I'm not sure what to do at this point.

  1. Oh no!! I have not been to your blog in a while. Family Illnesses and and Open Heart Surgery today with mother n law.

I'm so afraid about this with my son. I have truly been thinking about homeschooling. My son will be going to 6th grade and I'm so afraid.

I will be watching what the outcome is. I don't have any suggestions for you but know this is something that has to be dealt with for typical and special needs children.

It has gotten out of hand and they aren't dealing with the problems that result from this.

Feel so bad for your son, can't imagine how he must feel.

    Best of luck!

  2. Thanks Michelle.

I emailed his teacher and the principal and told them why he wouldn't go to school.

The principal called me later and said he was going to talk to the other boy and tell him that the teacher said he was bothering my son and to stop it.

When I picked him up yesterday he said things went okay.

I'm trying to remember Michelle what I heard at the special ed conference I went too a couple of weeks ago. I think if a child is on a 504 plan that it then is in the federal realm of things if there is bullying and that carries more weight.

I think if something is put in the IEP about bullying it might help. I'm going to try that at my next IEP meeting for next year.

Just 4 more weeks to go - hopefully it will go smoothly.

It is scary to send our kids off into the world. Together we can figure this out and make it a bettter place for all.
